The township of Hempstead is located in the southwestern portion of Nassau County. It is approximately 22 miles from Manhattan. Many residents commute to Manhattan, which is about 30 minutes away by rail. The incorporated villages include Atlantic Beach, Bellerose, Cedarhurst, East Rockaway, Floral Park (part), Hempstead, Hewlett Bay Park, Hewlett Neck, Island Park, Lawrence, Lynbrook, Malverne, Mineola (part), New Hyde Park (part), Hewlett Harbor, Rockville Center, South Floral Park, Woodmere and Valley Stream. Town and Residential Communities include Atlantic Beach, Baldwin, Bay Park, Bellerose Terrace, Bellmore, East Meadow, Elmont, Franklin Square, and Garden City SO. Hewlett, Inwood, Island Park, Lakeview, Levittown, West Hempstead, City-Long Beach, Lido-Pt.
